New year, new way of planning rides...

Destination & Pick-up Rides

To better manage our growing number of riders, in 2008 we are doing things differently than in previous years. Instead of having a set number of scheduled rides on specific dates, with the challenging preparation that accompany them, we are going to have three planned destination rides and an unlimited number of pick-up rides.

For our purposes we define a destination ride as one where a place and time are announced in advance to meet up for a meal and fellowship with fellow Minn-Max’rs. However, the route to and from the location is completely up to the individual. Folks are free to link-up with fellow riders or to ride solo to the event.

The other element, the pick-up ride, is under the complete discretion of the individuals organizing them. When they take place, where the start and end, the route taken, and how many people can participate are all the decision of the Ride Leader. They will post this information through our YahooGroup Forum. Ride Leaders are encouraged, like all riders are, to comply with our group riding guidelines. Further they are expected to make it clear in advance if the Ride Leader is on a machine other than a maxiscooter and also if the ride itself will involve busy roads or stretches of faster highways. This frees us from much of the cumbersome logistics, while providing an opportunity for each of us to make an informed decision whether to participate in a particular group ride.

Listed below are the three planned destination rides for Minn-Max in 2008. The dates are set and the details of where the meet-up location is will be added as we draw closer to the ride itself. We hope you join us for these events and check our forum regularly to take part in as many group rides as you wish.
